What makes ABS different from other agencies?

• CEO and founder of Above & Beyond Services, llc, Sue Buenavides, brings many years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in Hamilton County from various ages.  She has worked in the Social Services field for more than 20 years working not only with people with developmental disabilities, but also with government assistance agencies providing services, supports and resources for those in economic needs and those who have suffered traumatic experiences.  She is currently a certified independent provider and also a supervisor for a certified agency in Cincinnati working with people with developmental disabilities.  She provides an expertise in transition planning and working with elderly.  She has also worked with people with developmental disabilities in all ages.

• Staff members include licensed Nurses and Occupational Therapists.  Their expertise and knowledge will provide medical expertise and familiarity with people who are medically fragile and need additional assistance that goes beyond the typical "homemaker personal care" services.

• Commitment to Quality Assurance is not just a goal or a dream.  It is our agency's reality.  Not only are staff members expected to provide quality care, but our agency employs a proactive approach in ensuring that overall satisfaction of services are our main concern.  Our agency provides continuous and consistent training to staff through their course of employment, and we have established a Quality Assurance Department. Compliance not just to state, county and Medical rules but to individual satisfaction is monitored on a continual basis.  Staff in the QA Department include previous SSA (Service Facilitator), who will provide additional expertise and guidance as well as on-going monitoring of our agency's process and procedures.

• We acknowledge and employ Maslow's hierarchy of needs, recognizing that one cannot reach "self-actualization" without having the most basic needs met, thus, we have trained and licensed staff that can help provide the essentials, specifically, medical assistance and expertise.

• We believe in being proactive instead of reactive.  Our belief is not just an idea, but we have taken steps and have established protocols that is indicative of that principle.

• What it boils down to is that, we, as an agency are not just about talking about providing quality care, but we are doing it.  Actions speak louder than words and in the formation of our agency, we have instituted process, procedures, protocols and employed staff that will enable us to do what we can do best, and that is to help one not to just dream, but to help achieve.
